With the great deal of media and news attention that the real estate industry receives, it is not surprising that there is also a wealth of misinformation circulating through the nation’s news and media sources. It is important for both potential buyers and potential sellers to examine the reports to see if some of the apparently negative reports truly line up with real estate facts.
While the majority of critics agree that homeownership on average in the United States is on a downward trend, this does not mean that the health of the overall market is nearly as bleak as some would have Americans believe. For example, a recent article in The Fiscal Times called “The New American Dream: Rent, Don’t Buy” cites a statistic from Morgan Stanley’s July 2011 study about the decline of homeownership rates in America. However, what they overlooked was the fact that the third quarter of 2011 saw a significant rise in the rate of homeownership. DSNews confirms this in their report stating,“The homeownership rate posted a highly unexpected rise in the third quarter, according to the Census Bureau report.”
This is just one example of how some news sources can use misleading information to describe a much more struggling real estate market than in reality there actually is.
Danielle Windus-Cook Properties not only believes in the enduring value of homeownership to Americans, but can also help you make your dreams of owning your own home a reality.
