10 Steps to Purchasing a Home

Steps to the Purchase of a Home.   Let the Danielle Windus-Cook team help you.

1. Get pre-qualified with a bank or mortgage company. Nothing is worse than falling in love with a house and then finding out that you can’t afford it.  You will compare it to every house you look at after that and none will measure up.
2. Once you are pre-qualified, make sure it’s an amount you are comfortable with. What the bank says you qualify for may mean giving up things that are important to you. You may want to cut back on their figure to allow yourself a comfortable cushion.
3. Check out the communities, neighborhoods, schools, and any other features that are important to you and only then decide where you want to be. 
4. Call a realtor. At Danielle Windus-Cook Properties, we will ask for the  information that you consider important and set up a search for you. Information will be sent directly to you via e-mail and as you select homes that you want to see, that info comes to us.
5. Now the actual search begins. We set up appointments and get you into the homes to see them.
6. When you find one, we put in a purchase offer and work with you to get an acceptance.
7. We always recommend an inspection and again we help through that process. Your purchase offer is subject to the satisfaction of that inspection and the approval of an attorney of your choosing. You are not committed until you are satisfied.
8. Once your mortgage has been approved, it is up to the attorneys to set a closing date.
9. Prior to closing the realtor will set up a final walk through the house to make sure everything is as stated.
10. Closing day and in most cases move-in day.
